TEHACHAPI, Calif., October 12, 2026 – Bimi® Baby Broccoli recently brought together leading culinary, agricultural and lifestyle creators for an immersive California field experience celebrating the original baby broccoli and the people and partnerships helping bring the growing global brand to more North American consumers.
Bimi® is a premium vegetable brand grown from a proprietary seed and a one-of-a-kind, classically bred cross between broccoli and Chinese kale. Known for its sweet flavor, satisfying tender-crisp bite and versatility, Bimi® is 100% edible from floret to stalk and quick and easy to prepare. An established brand in markets around the world, Bimi® is now building its presence across North America as Broccoli, But Better®.
“Bimi® has an established following in markets around the world, and we see tremendous opportunity to build that same recognition in North America,” said Julie McElhaney, Bimi® Food Chain Manager. “Our focus is not simply on expanding distribution, but on helping consumers understand what makes Bimi® different and ultimately look for it by name. Partnerships with growers, retailers, chefs and creators—and experiences like this one—are all part of making that happen.”
Hosted in partnership with Cal-Organic Farms®, a licensed Bimi® grower, the experience gave guests a firsthand look at how organic Bimi® is grown and harvested in California. The partnership is also helping expand organic Bimi® distribution, bringing the brand to more retailers—and ultimately more consumers—across North America.
“We’re excited to continue growing our partnership with Bimi® and expanding opportunities for the brand across retail and foodservice,” said Bob Borda, Senior Vice President of National Accounts, Grimmway Produce Group®. “Welcoming creators to our farms gave them the opportunity to experience firsthand how Bimi® is grown and harvested, and to share that experience with their audiences. It was a fun way to introduce more people to Bimi® and showcase what makes this unique vegetable so special.”
The event welcomed James Beard Award-nominated Chicago chef and Bimi® Brand Ambassador Chef Thai Dang (@thai_dang_), alongside bestselling cookbook author and culinary creator Caro Chambers (@carochambers), agricultural advocate Kait Thornton (@applegirlkait) and food and lifestyle writer Zoë Barrie (@itszoebarrie). Guests harvested Bimi® in the fields, met the people behind the crop and experienced its journey from field to plate, with Chef Thai demonstrating its culinary versatility through live cooking and a Bimi®-centered farm-to-table lunch.
The experience also highlighted Bimi®’s role as Global Headline Sponsor of the World Food Photography Awards, one of the world’s leading celebrations of food photography and visual storytelling. A curated gallery of award-winning photography reflected the brand’s broader commitment to celebrating food culture and the growers, chefs, people and stories behind what we eat.
As North American distribution expands, Bimi® continues to invest in retail support, culinary partnerships, creator engagement and consumer-facing programs designed to build recognition and encourage shoppers to look for Bimi® by name.
Next up, Bimi® will bring Broccoli, But Better® to the International Fresh Produce Association (IFPA) Global Produce & Floral Show in Orlando, where attendees can learn more about the brand and its growing North American presence. Visit the Grimmway Produce Group® booth #1229 to learn more about organic Bimi® from Cal-Organic Farms®, and stop by the Bimi® booth #1253 for the full brand experience—including a chance to see Chef Thai Dang in action as he cooks up a stemsational Bimi® sample for attendees.
